Rihanna Is 'Esquire' Magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive 2011

Rihanna Is 'Esquire' Magazine's Sexiest Woman Alive 2011

Move over, Minka Kelly and Kate Beckinsale! There's a new Sexiest Woman Alive, and her name is Rihanna. Esquire magazine has bestowed their annual Sexiest Woman title on the sultry singer, who succeeds 2009 winner Beckinsale and 2010 honoree Kelly as the men's magazine's most lust-inducing woman on the planet.

In addition to a steamy, mostly nude pictorial (see the photo above), the magazine also features an interview with Rihanna and a detailed look at her evolution from 16-year-old Robyn Rihanna Fenty (her given name) to the iconic 23-year-old pop star she is today. Unsurprisingly, the topic of Chris Brown factors in heavily.

It's been two-and-a-half years since Rihanna filed domestic abuse charges against then-boyfriend Brown and ended up receiving a restraining order against him (it has since been lifted). While the public has had a hard time forgetting what Brown did to Rihanna, she seems to have moved on. In fact, in her interview with Esquire she goes so far as to praise her ex.

"It's incredible to see how he pulled out of it the way he did. Even when the world seemed like it was against him, you know?" she says. "I really like the music he's putting out. I'm a fan of his stuff. I've always been a fan."

That's not to say that she and Brown are on good terms now -- not by any means. But Rihanna is able to wish the 22-year-old rapper well in his career and his life.

"Obviously, I had some resentment toward him for a while, for obvious reasons. But I've put that behind me. It was taking up too much of my time. It was too much anger," Rihanna says. "I'm really excited to see the breakthrough he's had in his career. I would never wish anything horrible for him. Never. I never have."

A lot of the Esquire story is spent talking about how much "sex" Rihanna infuses into her performances and her public persona. It is an appropriate topic, considering the magazine named the Barbados native their Sexiest Woman Alive. But Rihanna seems oblivious to just how much "sex" she infuses into her performances.

The way Esquire describes Rihanna's performance at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y., back in July, it basically sounds like one giant on-stage orgy. There was a lot of simulated sex and caressing, despite the fact that Rihanna's mother and grandmother were in the audience. But Rihanna says that only one section of her show is meant to be the "sex" part. The rest of it is just a coincidence.

"Honestly, even if it comes across sexual -- it has to be a part of my subconscious thought. It's never deliberate in the rest of the show. I don't even really... I could see 'What's My Name?' -- the dancing is pretty sexy. 'Rude Boy.' But I don't know," she says. "I guess people find different things sexy."

'Avengers' Trailer Launches Online

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth make their big superhero debut as Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

In 2008, during the final moments of "Iron Man," the world at large became aware of a phenomenon that comic book readers have known about for years when Samuel L. Jackson, dressed eye to toe in S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury's black leather garb, introduced the concept of "the 'Avengers' initiative."

Fast-forward almost four full years later, and we're nearly there: Earth's Mightiest Heroes are on the cusp of assembling for "Marvel's 'The Avengers,' " and today (October 11), true believers across the globe are getting their first glimpse at the superhero blockbuster's all-star roster in action.

Directed by Joss Whedon and featuring all of your favorite Marvel heroes including Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and ol' Shellhead himself (Robert Downey Jr.), "The Avengers" is poised to be the biggest comic book movie of all time ... and the trailer certainly helps to sell that epic scope.

The "Avengers" trailer, which debuted online at Apple.com, begins with a menacing monologue from familiar adversary Loki, last seen at the end of "Thor" falling into a cosmic abyss.

"You were made to be ruled," he whispers cruelly as shots of carnage and chaos flood the screen, "and in the end, it will be every man for himself."

A quick cut of scenes brings us to Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his boss, Fury, putting their heads together about how best to solve this unknown, ongoing crisis hatched by Loki and his devious plotting. "There was an idea," Fury says, "to bring together a group of remarkable people, so that when we needed them, they could fight the battles that we never could."

Cue those remarkable people: the Asgardian hero Thor, the time-displaced Steve Rogers, the easily enraged Bruce Banner, the eagle-eyed Clint Barton, the deadly Black Widow and, of course, the eternally arrogant Tony Stark. We see these heroes on the battlefield fighting both alongside each other and against one another, showing just how difficult it's going to be for these superpowered warriors to get along.

But even if they can't settle their differences, Stark is looking on the bright side: "If we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned sure that we'll avenge it."

Between Nick Fury launching a bazooka at an unseen assailant and Banner transforming into "an enormous green rage monster," we'd say most of our "Avengers" trailer wishes have been fulfilled. The movie assembles in theaters on May 4, 2012.

Check out everything we've got on "Marvel's 'The Avengers.' "

Kid Rock Tour To Benefit Struggling U.S Cities

Detroit rocker announces shows will raise money for local charities in each stop.

Kid Rock has made every effort to help his beleaguered hometown of Detroit rebound from decades of economic distress. But now D-Town's favorite son and original "American Badass" is expanding his scope with an upcoming club tour that will attempt to raise a few bucks for other struggling U.S. cities.

The 10-city swing will hit intimate (at least for Rock) clubs in Maryland, New York, Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Colorado and Missouri, beginning on November 16 with a show at the Fillmore Auditorium in Silver Spring, Maryland. According to a press release announcing the tour, Rock "has assembled a team of Detroit titans to show support for other cities in need, and to show that Detroit, while experiencing [its] own difficulties still has the power to unite to help others around the country."

Working with this group of Detroit business leaders, Rock and company have pledged to donate money to local charities, causes and individuals through the Kid Rock Foundation at every stop. Radio stations in the local markets will help determine worthy causes.

The tour was Rock's idea, timed to coincide with the release of his latest single, "Care," a duet with Martina McBride and T.I. on Rock's Born Free album that urges Americans to stop bickering and take care of those in need of help.

"The song says 'the least that I can do is care' — and I want to put my money where my mouth is. Everyone knows that Detroit is hurting," he said in the statement announcing the tour. "But I want to show that even though we don't have a lot on our own plate, it doesn't mean the people of my hometown don't have compassion to share with others all over the country. At the end of the day we're all Detroit, we're one country, one family."

Considering that Kid Rock played to 12,000 or more each night on his summer Born Free arena/amphitheater tour, the upcoming dates are a big shift in terms of capacity, but also a rare opportunity to see him up-close-and-personal in such legendary rooms as Nashville's 2,300-seat Ryman Auditorium; the 2,800-capacity Beacon Theatre in New York; and Boise, Idaho's 1,000-capacity Knitting Factory. Tickets for the tour go on sale on Saturday.

Dates and venues for Kid Rock tour, according to a press release:

» Nov. 16 - Silver Spring, MD @ Fillmore
» Nov. 19 - New York, NY @ Beacon Theatre
» Nov. 20 - Buffalo, NY @ Town Ballroom
» Nov. 22 - Indianapolis, IN @ Egyptian Room
» Nov. 23 - Nashville, TN @ Ryman Theatre
» Nov. 26 - Chicago, IL @ House of Blues
» Nov. 29 - Kansas City, MO @ Midland Theatre
» Dec. 1 - Denver, CO @ Fillmore Auditorium
» Dec. 3 - Magna, UT @ The Great Saltair
» Dec. 4 - Boise, ID @ Knitting Factory
